Laura received her Bachelor’s from the University of Texas at El Paso in Psychology where she also played. During this time, Laura also played for the Puerto Rico National Team where she participated in the Central American Games, Pan American Game, World Championships, and World Cup. Laura Also played professionally overseas in Switzerland for a season where she participated in the European Championships in Prague. She has been coaching for almost ten years now in numerous roles, including as an assistant coach, as well as providing instruction both in the US and internationally.
Laura received a Master’s in Child and Developmental Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University, as well as a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western New Mexico University. Laura is also currently working on her doctorate specializing in Sport and Performance Psychology.
Laura is a practicing mental health therapist in Dallas, TX working primarily with young adults, adolescents, and children 12 and up. She has experience in working with clients diagnosed with ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, along with others. She has worked with students to achieve their behavioral goals in the school setting, as well as stay on track with academics. Laura also strives to work with athletes on their mental health, as well as performance on the field. Laura wants to help athletes develop effective skills to deal with the difficulties of balancing school, personal life, and sport. She has worked with athletes at all different levels and wishes to continue that into her career by helping athletes develop skills to better their overall performance.
Laura focuses on solution-focused and cognitive behavioral therapy modalities to help clients achieve their goals. However, she understands that each client has certain needs and the approach to therapy looks different for each one. She is very passionate about helping clients reach their goals. Laura also provides softball instruction and coaches in her free time, when she’s not studying!
